The Alignment Inventory: five Wednesdays
The five movements of alignment, one each week, gathered in one place
Alignment sounds like a state you arrive at, something achieved once and then held. In practice it moves more like a season, arriving and receding, asking different things of you at different points along the way. Over five Wednesdays I am writing through the five movements that shape that passage, one at a time, and this page holds all of them as they appear.
The movements come from the 5-Point Process at the heart of my book, A Life Aligned, and from thirty years of sitting with people at thresholds much like the one you may be standing in now. They are described in order because the order matters, and they are lived out of order because life rarely consults the outline. Read them as a sequence if that serves you, or open the one that names where you already are.
One. Vision. What do you actually want, underneath what you have been told to want, and how do you tell the difference. Published July 29.
Two. Commitment. What it costs to choose one path and let the others close, and why that closing is the beginning rather than the loss. August 5.
Three. Awareness. How to notice what is happening in you while it is happening, which is the skill everything else depends on. August 12.
Four. Living Into Your Intention. The long stretch between the decision and the evidence, where most people turn back, and how to stay. August 19.
Five. Integration. What happens when the new way of being stops feeling like effort and starts feeling like you. August 26.
If you are somewhere in the middle of life and sensing that something is asking to change, this series was written for you. Subscribe and each Wednesday will find you, along with a short field guide to the five movements that is yours to keep.
